Katerina Korre, True story

This series of digital collages is inspired by the artist's thoughts regarding the disconnect between the medieval mythology and the folktales that, through cartoons, have shaped the children of the western world for almost a century.
As the universe of Disney creates a sense of absolute morality, almost reestablishing a Christian differentiation between right and wrong, it formulates social constructs in a manner that is both benign and profound.
In Korre's work, this world is exposed as a means of manipulation rather than sweet storytelling. And even if this universe is alluring, it is by no means harmless. Based on a rather gore central European tradition has jumped through Hollywood, into everyone's lives, forming the way we understand social roles, gender, age, et al.
